This course will examine research in mathematics education that includes areas of teaching, learning, curriculum, and socio-cultural context. Selected research will be critically reviewed for research design and claims. In a culminating project, students will conduct a review on a specific topic in math education research literature. The course focuses on quantitative and qualitative methods to conduct research in science education that informs and strengthens their classroom practice. Successful completion of the course requires students to develop a research proposal. 9 hours supervision. (005930)

Prerequisites: MTHE 680.|
Formulation and pursuit, with supervision, of advanced projects and theses. The emphasis is on planning, reading, discussing, and evaluating student's manuscript-in-progress. This is a required couse in the MA and MS programs in mathematics education. 3 hours seminar. You may take this course more than once for a maximum of 3.0 units. (005931)
