The Minor in English

The English minor provides a short version of the major requirements, including a 12-unit core in literary analysis, rhetoric, and surveys of American and British literature.

Description: Practice in writing and revising prose that informs and persuades effectively, based on a study of classical and modern rhetorical principles. Open to all students; required of all English majors, including credential candidates, who should take it by the end of their junior year in preparation for upper-division course work in English. This is a writing proficiency, WP, course; a grade of C- or better certifies writing proficiency for majors. (003488 )
