The Certificate in Geospatial Technology provides students with a foundation in geographical technology and information science with hands-on use of the latest software for geographic information system (GIS), including digital input from Global Positioning System (GPS) data and remotely sensed imagery. The certificate also trains students in basic and advanced map design skills as a vital accompaniment to GIS. Professionals in GIS technology work in private industry, government, and nonprofit organizations. The certificate can be taken in connection with a geography or other degree, or as a stand-alone certificate.
Grading Requirement
All courses taken to fulfill program course requirements must be taken for a letter grade except those courses specified by the department as credit/no credit grading only.
A grade point average of 2.5 must be earned for courses required for the certificate. A grade of C or higher must be earned in each course of the certificate program.
