The Minor in Mathematics Education is designed for students of any major who are interested in teaching mathematics to children in K-12. The minor offers multiple coursework pathways, customizable to the student’s major and interests.
Depending on their career goals, most students who complete the minor continue on to a one-year credential program, earning either a multiple-subjects teaching credential with a supplemental authorization in introductory mathematics or a single subject teaching credential in foundational mathematics.
Course Requirements for the Minor
The following courses, or their approved transfer equivalents, are required of all candidates for this minor.
To declare the minor, you must fill out a Plan Change Form and receive approval from the Mathematics and Statistics Department chair by taking the form to Holt 101 for the chair's signature.
