Heavy Construction Minor

Total Units Required: 18

A student at the Honey Run Covered Bridge rebuilding site reads construction plans.

Heavy civil construction is the part of the construction industry that builds dams, bridges, treatment plants, industrial, power facilities, heavy highway, and other infrastructure needs. This part of the industry covers 30-35% of the companies that recruit California State University, Chico construction management and civil engineering students. The heavy construction industry needs more graduates. Currently, construction management programs in California meet only approximately 30-40% of the demand in heavy construction.

The Minor in Heavy Construction is intended for declared civil engineering majors with junior standing.
