The Certificate in Geospatial Technology provides a foundation in geographical technology and information science with hands-on use of the latest geographic information system (GIS) software, including digital input from Global Positioning System (GPS) data and remotely sensed imagery. You also receive training in basic and advanced map design skills, as a vital accompaniment to GIS.
Professionals in GIS technology work in private industry, government, and nonprofit organizations. The certificate can be taken in connection with a geography or other degree, or as a standalone certificate.
Grading Requirement
All courses taken to fulfill program course requirements must be taken for a letter grade except those courses specified by the department as credit/no credit grading only.
Some courses require a minimum grade to progress in the program. Minimum grade requirements, including those listed on course requisites, are considered graduation requirements.
A grade point average of 2.5 must be earned for courses required for the certificate. A grade of C or higher must be earned in each course of the certificate program.
